If you pressed shuffle on all the songs I have downloaded on my Apple Music, you could hear anything from Beyonce, the Wicked Soundtrack, Bon Jovi or Mozart. I say this to say, I love music in all of its forms.

As a project for my multimedia journalism course, we were tasked to partner with a classmate to make a short podcast. I was lucky that my classmate Melia and I both share similar sentiments on music.

For our episode, we wanted to feature students and young artists trying to break into today’s music industry. With technological advances, social media marketing at the forefront and the controversial use of AI, there is a lot of potential challenges for emerging artists.

Singer E’mani Aurielle and songwriter, photographer and videographer Isaac from boygrim shared their experience as young artists, and what makes all of the highs and lows worth it.
